As a writer and communications consultant with years of experience, I create diverse and compelling content and use the latest platforms and social media tools for successful outreach. I also provide program support, including event coordination, vendor management, and research.

The areas I am passionate about include sustainability, transformation of our food and transportation systems, and positive social change towards an inclusive new economy. My goals are to construct inspiring narratives, share under-told stories, broaden awareness of alternatives, co-create resilience, reconnect people to natural systems, and motivate people to action.

In addition to articles and press releases, I have experience writing and editing newsletters, op-eds, blogs, reports, e-blasts, and fundraising appeals. My work appears in Earth Island Journal, Oakland Local, Truthout, Ecolocalizer, Huffington Post, Terrain: Northern California’s Environmental Magazine, The Progressive, Global Exchange’s Climate Justice Blog, Food First, DGuides–San Francisco, Planetsave, and Ethical Travel.

I also have significant experience as a grassroots social change organizer, ranging from door-to-door canvassing for GOTV and anti-war campaigns to public transit and urban agriculture work. I co-organized an anti-war “plant-in” in Oakland and San Francisco and helped to organize a food justice bike tour for 10/10/10 Global Day of Action.

My previous career was as an instructor in Philosophy and Religious Studies. I taught in the Humanities Department (Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Environmental Ethics, Comparative Religions, World History courses) at Sinclair Community College in Ohio. In addition to teaching, I also developed curriculum, interviewed and scheduled part-time faculty, maintained websites, co-edited the departmental student journal, and was faculty adviser to the philosophy student club.
